No matter what breed your dog, the secret to a happier, healthier, better performing dog is a quality Environment. The American Staffordshire
Terrier originated from breedings of
the old English Bulldog and one or
more game English terriers. The qualities
of strength, courage, loyalty,
trustworthiness and companionship have
made this an enduring breed and
part and parcel of American history
and legend. Generations of children
have grown up watching "Our Gang" comedies
with Pete the pup, a registered
American Staffordshire Terrier. Recognized
in 1936 by the American Kennel
Club, the name Staffordshire Terrier
was chosen to avoid confusion with
the already recognized Bull Terrier,
a similarly-derived English
counterpart. In 1972 the name was changed
to the American Staffordshire
Terrier. The hallmark of this dog is
its unique combination of agility and
power. The American Staffordshire Terrier
is a strong, athletic dog. Males
measure up to 19 inches at the shoulder
(55 to 65 pounds); females are
usually an inch shorter and 5 to 10
pounds lighter. The coat is short,
close, stiff and may be any color.
This handsome dog is an ideal family
dog, unparalleled as a pet, companion
and natural watchdog. Am Staffs are
exceptionally tolerant with children,
medium-size, short-coated and clean
about the home. This dog is hardy,
resistant to disease and requires
minimal grooming. White Mountain ® Am Staffs - Are a line of well-balanced, outstanding, performance level American Staffordshire Terriers. The outstanding quality in which our dogs excel are:
